To the editor:
The First United Methodist Youth Group would like to convey a heartfelt thanks to our community and church friends for the support given to us during our "One Homeless Night" on Aug.15. Without your active help, it would not have been possible.
We truly can make a difference when we work together. We feel it is important to educate our children about the choices they make throughout their lives. By teaching them to have a sense of empathy and love toward the homeless they can change their view and grow in God's image. Spending a night in a cardboard box hungry, wet and cold, they have gained a new perspective and appreciation for the blessings they have been given.
Our dream is that someday everyone has an address, and a place they can call "home,"
We would like to thank the following: First United Methodist Church, New Hope Independent Fellowship, Sacred Heart Catholic Church Youth leader, Chuck & Adrienne Zannino Bethel AME Youth Leaders, Bill Parson and Amanda Armstrong Reedsville United Methodist Church member Lori Cottrill, Grove Memorial United Methodist Church;
Our Soup Kitchen Crew: Sue Salvatore, Krystan Hassinger, Beverly Knox, Kody Hassinger, Lisa Heckman, Lauren Hassinger, Megan Berry, Siera Chesne; Yeagertown Fire Company, LUMINA Center, Brannon & Royer Septic, Capperella Furniture, Sears, Michaels Sales and Service, Bobby Rahal Toyota, Lewistown Police Department, Lewistown Borough, Lewistown Borough Council, and Mayor Debbie Bargo.
