LEWISTOWN - Shirley A. Armstrong, 79, of Golden Living Center William Penn, Lewistown, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at Pinnacle Health Harrisburg Campus.
Born June 26, 1933, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Richard Bray and Opal Mae (Pittman) Markey. Her husband, Everett Armstrong, died on May 28, 1977.
Shirley is survived by: children, Kenneth Thomas Kitting Jr. and wife, Cathy, of Rockwood, and Kimberly Erb, of Mattawana; grandchildren, Thomas Eugene Peck, Kacy Smith, Nichole Steele and Cherri Miller; great- grandchildren, Kiera and Tanis Peck, Jennica Smith, Richard Lee Smith III and Peyton Tankoo.
She was the last of her generation. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Diane Tyler and a son, Dale Stuart Kitting.
She retired on March 14, 2007, as a security guard of a building complex. She was a former member of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lewistown, and was a member of the Lewistown Senior Center. She enjoyed shopping with her grandchildren, camping, boating and playing Bingo.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville, with Pastor Doug Pierce officiating. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
