LEWISTOWN -The Lewistown Police Department is investigating an accident involving a teen who was struck while riding his bicycle Saturday on South Main Street in Lewistown.
Police said that at 5:15 p.m. Shirley Baker, of Lewistown, was driving on South Main Street when a male on a bicycle came out of the Burger King parking lot and onto the road. Baker hit the male with her car, police said.
Police said the bicyclist was identified as Cole Shlegel, age 13, of Derry Township, who was transported to Lewistown Hospital by Fame EMS for non-life threatening injuries. Police interviewed Cole, who stated his brakes failed and he couldn't stop, causing him to enter the roadway with out checking for traffic.
Witnesses verified that Cole entered the highway without stopping first.
