Mollie V. Peachey

BELLEVILLE - Mollie V. Peachey, 94, of Valley View Terrace, A220, Belleville, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 7, 2012, at the Terrace.

Born May 20, 1918, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late Ezra J. and Cora (Yoder) Hartzler. Her husband, the late Leonard L. Peachey, whom she married May 1, 1937, preceded her in death on April 6, 2001.

Mollie also was preceded in death by two sisters, Vesta Peachey and Sara Hartzler, a brother, Floyd Hartzler and son-in-law, Jess Lee Peachey.

She is survived by: children, Alta Auker and husband, John, of Thompsontown, L. Ann Peachey, of Belleville, Sara D. Peachey, of Fayetteville, Diane K. Saner and husband, Orlyn, of McAlisterville, and Gladys A. Turnbull and husband, Frank, of Spokane, Wash.; brothers and sisters, Anna Mary Renno and husband, Paul, of Belleville, Ruth Glick and husband, Bob, of Chesterfield, Va., and Robert Hartzler and wife, Phyllis, of Wayland, Iowa; grandchildren, Doug, Jeff, Audrey, Brian, Clark, Cammy, Drew, Neil, Colin and Owen; 20 great-grandchildren; and four greatgreat-grandchildren.

Mollie was primarily a homemaker. She worked part time as a cook at the restaurant in Allensville and at Union Elementary School, in Belleville.

She enjoyed quilting, piecing quilts and making wall-hangings to donate to the school auctions and Mennonite Central Committee. She also enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Mollie taught Bible school and was a 4-H leader when she, her husband and her family resided in Juniata County. She was a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church and a member of the Sunshine Sunday school class, as well as a member of the Ladies' Sewing Circle at church.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Valley View Haven Chapel. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m., until the time of the service Saturday, at the chapel, with Pastors Gerald Peachey and Max Zook officiating.

She will be buried in Locust Grove Cemetery.
