Authorities: Suicide attempt takes out gasoline pump in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN - A 21-year old man, of Lewistown, intentionally drove into a gasoline pump in attempt to commit suicide early morning Tuesday at the Valero station on Juniata Street, Lewistown Police Department reports.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., a man drove into the pump with intent to harm himself during an emotional episode, police said. The pump housing became completely detached during the crash, causing a small fire, police said. Lewistown Police Department, Fame EMS, Brooklyn Hose Co., City Hook and Ladder, United Fire and Rescue, West Granville Fire Co. and East Derry Fire Co. all quickly responded to the scene.

The man was transported to Lewistown Hospital for medical and psychological treatment, police said.
