LEWISTOWN - Past and present musicians and band front members planningt to participate in the All-County Band Reunion scheduled for Sept. 21 during the Mifflin County Huskies Homecoming Game are asked to register by Aug. 31.

Anyone living in Mifflin County who has ever played in a marching or concert band anywhere is invited to participate. Band front members are also encouraged to sign up.

Music may be downloaded from the Mifflin County School District website (click on Alumni Events). The Reunion Band Song List includes "Batman Tag," "Blues Brothers," "Build Me Up, Buttercup," "Dragnet," "Eye of the Tiger," "Hail to the Huskies," "Hawaii Five-O," "Jaws," "Na Na Hey," "Number 1," "Star Spangled Banner," "The Horse," "Vamp" and "YMCA."

There is a $20 fee to participate, which entitles reunion members to a limited edition T-shirt designed by Jessica Goss. Payment of the registration fee by Aug. 31 will guarantee that the participant will reveice a T-shirt. All additional proceeds will be donated to the Mifflin County High School Band for items not covered by this year's school budget.

"We want to have fun, we want to shine a light on music and we want to generate money to help the band out," Jenny Barron Landis, one of the reunion organizers, said. Proceeds donated to the high school band may help get broken instruments fixed, and enable more students to participate in the high school music program, Landis said.

The band reunion will start with a brief practice at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 21 in the band room at Mifflin County High School.

Carpooling to Mitchell Field will start around 5:30. The goal is to be at the former Lewistown Area High School in a rough marching formation by 6 p.m. The participants will march to the field and get into the stands in time to watch the visiting band's pre-game performance.

At halftime, the reunion band will go onto the field, play three or four songs and then head back to the stands. All participants are asked to stay after the game to watch the Mifflin County High School Band's performance.

For more information, contact Landis at jaybeeyell1@verizon.net or 248-8078.

The event also has a Facebook page - Mifflin County Marching Band Alumni Reunion. Alumni are encouraged to post scanned photos from their days in high school band.
