MOUNT UNION - In May, the Mount Union Police Department reopened an investigation that began in March 2004. Police report that the victim in the investigation, then an 8-year-old boy, came forward with more detailed information regarding his complaint.
Police say the now 16-year-old reported that he had been sexually assaulted five or six times over a two-week period at his residence in Hartman Village by a man.
As a result of the investigation, Mount Union Police arrested Mark Kenneth Morningstar, 42, of Mount Union. Police report that Morningstar is being charged with five counts involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, five counts unlawful contact/communication with a minor, five counts corruption of minors and five counts indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age.
The report states that Morningstar was taken into custody at 9:40 a.m. Friday and arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Colyer. Morningstar was committed to the Huntingdon County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and is awaiting a court date, police report.
