McCLURE - Robert W. Rager Sr., 80, of West Specht Street, McClure, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Golden Living Center William Penn, in Lewistown.
Born June 5, 1932, in McClure, he was a son of the late Lester and Cora (Keister) Rager. On July 25, 1953, he married Emily B. Rager, who preceded him in death on April 5, 2012.
Robert attended McClure High school. After graduation he served in the Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War.
Mr. Rager was employed at Lozier Corp., in McClure, where he retired.
Robert was a former member of the American Legion Post 942 and also enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving are: one son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. Jr. and Shari Rager, of McClure; one daughter, Jackie L. Rager, of McClure; three grandchildren, Derrick Rager, Terri Pettengill and Kevin Rager; and seven great-grandchildren, Cassie Baker, Brianna Rager, Chris Koller, Caitlin Baker, Zoe Rager, Mya Rager and Riley Pettengill.
In addition to his wife, Robert was preceded in death by: five sisters,Violet Pender, Betty Rager, in infancy, Margie Wright, Dorothy Eddy and Kathryn Reeder; and two brothers, Ralph "Patty" Rager, in infancy, and Elmer "Sonny" Rager.
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown. A funeral with military honors accorded by Midd-West honor guard will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Kathy Mercado officiating.
