Ronald Dean Davidson

DAVIDSVILLE - Ronald Dean Davidson, 78, a loving husband, brother and friend, of Laurel View Village in Davidsville, died July 22, 2012.

Born Oct. 24, 1933, in Milroy, he was the son of the late Clarence and Louella (Tressler) Davidson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Smithers and Jeanne Treaster.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Loretta Faye Schrock, and his sister, Shirly Peck, of Lewistown. He is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Schrock, of Somerset, and their sons, Greg Schrock, Dr. Kirk Schrock and Mark Schrock, as well as a number of other nieces and nephews.

Ronald graduated from Juniata College and worked until his retirement as Regional Bond Manager for a Penn National Life Insurance branch in Greensboro, N.C.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving with the Army Security Agency.

Ronald was an avid lover of music. He faithfully shared his Christian beliefs, and often quoted Major Ian Thomas, "It takes the life of God in the soul of a man to put the character of God into the behavior of man." He also liked A.B. Simpson's "Himself" and Myron Augsberger's writings.

He was a member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, in Mechanicsburg, a caring church family who shared Christ's love during his times of declining health.

Friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Laurel View Village Chapel, Davidsville. A service will be held at 1 p.m., with the Rev. David Dearing and Pastor Wes Yoder officiating. Interment will be in Somerset County Memorial Park. Military rites will be accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.

Contributions may be made to the Caring Fund at Laurel Village or Shepherdstown UMC.

Arrangements are under the care of the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset.
