Intensity wins in Ohio

July 21, 2012
From staff reports , Lewistown Sentinel

MAUMEE, Ohio - Mifflin County's bats came alive in the second inning, where the High Intensity 13U team scored all of its runs in a 7-2 win over a team from Waterford, Mich., in the opening of bracket play at the USSSA fastpitch world series Friday.

Against the team called Ice Black, it was the locals who froze out the opponent on offense. Hannah Ruby picked up the win in a complete-game performance. Ruby also drove in two runs with her only hit of the game.

Kierra Imler was 2-for-4 at the plate, also with two RBIs. Caitlyn Smith was 2-for-4 with one batted in. Laura Stuck and Taylor McKay also drove in runs, while Mackenzie Brechbiel and Hailee Weader added hits in the winning effort.

The Intensity's next game is today against Medina, Ohio's Diamondchix. A win there would put the Mifflin County squad three wins away from the title.
