ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Thomas E. Reiss, 65, died July 6, 2012, at his home, in Asheville, NC.
Tom was the son of E. Edward Reiss Jr. and Marybelle Reiss Richard.
He is survived by: his son, Jeremy and wife, Gianna; his siblings, Richard Reiss, Martha Reiss, Katherine Reiss, Jackie Richard Kadane, David Richard, Bruce Richard and their families; 13 nieces and nephews; and his uncle, aunt and cousins, Jim, Evelyn, Bob and Darla Charlesworth, of Lewistown. He is also remembered with love by his former wife, Carol, and his dear friend and caregiver Kris Zurbruegg.
Tom lived in Lewistown until the age of 19, and was a proud member of the Chief Logan class of 1964. He graduated from Cornell University in 1970, with a degree in architecture. He lived in the Ithaca area until 1995, then moved to Asheville, N.C.
Wherever Tom lived, he established long-lasting friendships and enjoyed engaging in philosophical and political discussions. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an ability to interact with a wide variety of people. He loved to go to his family and high school reunions.
Tom grew up enjoying the outdoors and shared this love with his friends and particularly with his son. He was a gifted artist who was creative in several media, including painting and drawing of wildlife, photography and the writing of songs and poetry.
