HARRISBURG - Dr. Donald E. "Doc" Siffin, 86, of Lower Paxton Township and formerly of Clarendon, Warren and Millerstown, died on Monday, July 16, 2012, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Don was a 1943 graduate of Warren Area High School. He then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he was stationed in Italy and served on the crew of an Air Corps plane.
After the war, Don completed his undergraduate studies at Slippery Rock College, his pre-med studies at Penn State University, and he graduated from Veterinary School in 1952 at the University of Pennsylvania.
Don also served on numerous boards and committees and with service organizations over the years.
Don is survived by: his wife of 63 years, Jeannette (Mead) Siffin; three sons, Kent Siffin, of Millerstown, Kurt Siffin and wife, Lorri, of Hummelstown, and Kirk Siffin, of Harrisburg; one daughter, Rhinda Siffin, of Clarendon. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Brett McGowan, Karly Siffin, and Taelor Siffin.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012, in the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
