Writer agrees that GOP is to blame for our troubles
To the editor:
Zachary D. Dunmire and Harry Geedy, I agree with your reasoned thinking concerning using the facts to form opinions and make arguments.
President Obama has done an outstanding job taking care of the important things for our country in spite of the admitted obstruction of the Republican Party.
Mitch McConnell, Republican from Kentucky, Minority Leader of the Senate said, "the job of the Republican legislators is to see that President Obama is a one-term president."
So they summarily ignored and fought against job bills, instead, quibbling about how much funding National Public Radio should receive. They fought against an extension of unemployment benefits right before Christmas 2011. Can you imagine the cruelty to families and their children?
The legislators who said their job was to obstruct for four years rather than to work to meet the needs of their constituents and the country really should not be collecting their salaries.
Rep. Darrell Issa, Republican from California, is trying to put the Post Office in to private hands.
Rep. Paul Ryan, Republican from Wisconsin, Budget Chair of the House, wrote a budget which will take away Medicare coverage and give you a voucher which may or may not cover your medical expenses. Social Security funds will be put in the hands of Wall Street investors (whom the Republicans do not want regulated) so that the next time the big banks fail, your Social Security check does too. Mitt Romney approves of this. If you vote Republican, this is what you will get.
