LEAWOOD, Kan. - Kathryn L. "Kay" Mauery, of Leawood, Kan., passed away peacefully on July 4, 2012, at the Kansas City Hospice House.
Kay was the daughter of Isabel and A. S. "Pete" Ulsh, of McClure. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 2006.
She was also preceded by three brothers, "Punch," Joe and Harry, and three sisters, Susanna, Geraldine, and Elizabeth.

She is survived by: her sister, Lois (Gerald) Spigelmyer, of Pennsylvania; three sons, Rick, of Washington, D.C., John (Mandy), of Gladstone, Mo., and Tim (Sally), of Park Ridge, Ill. Also surviving are: her former daughter-in-law, Arlene, of Parkville, Mo.; and her five grandchildren, Shawn, Jason, Grace, Kathryn and Caroline. She had many nephews and nieces, including Joey Ulsh, Bradley Aumiller, SueAnn Dunmire, Gloria Stewart and Laura Warner, and countless friends around the country.
Kay and Don moved to the Kansas City area in 1971 when his life-long career with Ralston Purina Co. transferred him there to manage the Kansas City plant. During their marriage, they lived in numerous places around the country, including Nashville, Tenn., Shreveport, La., Muskogee, Okla., Memphis, Tenn., St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Stockton, Calif.
Kay and Don were early members of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood and long-time members of Hallbrook Country Club. She volunteered with Matthew's Ministry at COR, served as president of the Kansas City Women's Golf Association and was involved in many other charitable activities. She shared with her husband a love of golf, becoming quite accomplished, as well as travel around the U.S. for business and pleasure.
