Gene and Betty Horton, of Mifflintown, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married July 3, 1952. in Winchester, Va., and renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary at Duck United Methodist Church in the Outer Banks, N.C., while vacationing with family.
They are the parents of Cathy Halbleib and husband, Byron, of Katy, Texas, and Cindy Gross and husband, Dan, of Roswell, Ga.
Grandchildren include Adrienne Darhower and husband, Greg Jacobson, Cody Halbleib, Chelsea Halbleib, Lauren Gross and Ethan Gross. They also have a great-grand daughter, Micah Jacobson.

Gene is retired from the former United Telephone System and served in the United States Air Force. Betty is a retired registered nurse who practiced in pediatric, surgical, rehabilitation and outpatient settings.
The family believes that Gene and Betty have provided an exemplary example for their children and grandchildren of the love, commitment and dedication that defines family.
