Ernest A. Goss

FORT MILL, S.C. - Earnest A. Goss, 90, of Fort Mill, S.C., and formerly of 113 Highland Ave., Lewistown, died at 11:40 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the Patrick T. Wayne Hospice House in Rock Hill, S.C.

Born Dec. 4, 1921, in Newtown, he was the son of the late Millard S. and Lida (Arnold) Goss.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Kathryn K. Goss, in May 2005; two brothers and four sisters.

Ernest is suvived by: his daughters, Barbara Kirk and husband, James, of Fort Mill, S.C., and Gwendolyn Logan and husband, Robert, of Lewistown; six grandchildren and a great- grandchild.

He was a 1942 graduate of Lewistown High School.

Cpl. Ernest Goss received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in Dec. 1945. He received a good conduct medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal with two bronze stars and a World War II Victory medal.

He was employed at Sanyo Corporation in Milroy as a jig and fixture builder, retiring in April 1985.

Ernest was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lewistown where he was a member of the Men's Friendship Bible Class; Asst. Superintendent of the Sunday school and served on the board of trustees.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 90, VFW Post 7011, Bricklayers Local #13, TWUA and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #2115.

His family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main Street, Lewistown.

A graveside service will follow at 11:15 a.m. and be officiated by Barbara Kirk at Juniata Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
