BELLEVILLE - Elwood Milton Stuter Sr., 99, of Valley View Haven, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Valley View.
Born June 25, 1913, in Belleville, he was the son of the late Joseph Alvin Stuter and Margaret Ellen Vaughn Stuter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Grace (Lantz) Stuter, whom he married July 30, 1938.
He is survived by: his children, William W. "Bill" Stuter, and wife, Connie L. Stuter, of Reedsville, Elwood M. "Ed" Stuter Jr., of Reedsville, and Ronald A. "Ron" Stuter and wife, Lona, of Burnham, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by a sister, Enid (Love) Coleman, of Belleville.
He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Judith Faye Stuter; six sisters, Mildred Stuter, Beatrice Griffith, Edna Griffith, Clara Stuter, Jean Wilson and Ruth Ellen Stuter; and five brothers, Arthur, Walter, Warren, Robert and Raymond Stuter.
Mr. Stuter was a graduate of the Philadelphia School for the Deaf. He was employed by Kavee and Fairmont Dairy and worked in the milk department.
He was an avid Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers fan and also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, trapping and bowling.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at Henderson Funeral Home, Inc.
A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Kampa officiating.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Valley View Haven Endowment Fund, 4702 E Main St., Belleville, PA 17004.
