MIFFLINTOWN - Ferne M. Hart, 83, of Mifflintown, died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at her home.
Born Aug. 12, 1928, in Fayette Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Newton and Helen (Sankey) Frymoyer. On Nov. 15, 1945, she married her late husband, Gerald R. Hart, with whom she spent more than 51 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1996.
Surviving are: her children, Richard L. Hart and wife, Sandra, of Thompsontown, Melvin E. Hart and wife, Elaine, of McAlisterville, Beryl A. Schlegel and husband, Charlie, of Mifflintown; two sisters, Charlotte Longacre, of Middleburg and Jean Neitz, of Freeburg; and she leaves behind ten grandchildren, Bryan Hart and wife, Michelle, Teresa Kepner and husband, Corey, Dervin Hart, Daryl Hart and wife, Christine, Delbert Hart and wife, Cheryl, Darleen Wagner and husband, Leon, Dwight Hart and wife, Kimberly, Dawn Hart, Suzanne Zeiders and husband, Matt, Nikki Dressler and husband, Tom, as well as 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Lou Frymoyer, in infancy, and Beryl Naylor, as well as two brothers, Earl R. Frymoyer and Wayne R. Frymoyer.
Mrs. Hart was a homemaker, a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church, Cocolamus, and she attended the Faith Bible Church, Port Royal.
Ferne will long be remembered for her gift of baking pies. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, embroidery, and making quilts as family heirlooms for her children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, from the St. John's United Methodist Church, Cocolamus, with the Rev. Ronald E. Landis officiating. Interment will follow in the East Salem Cemetery, East Salem.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
