To the editor:
I want to wish all Mifflin County High School athletes good luck next year when they move into the Mid Penn Conference. The sports programs have already shown great promise within the last year, but they need to start preparing now for what is to come next year.
I am a 1979 graduate of Lewistown High School, but have lived in the south central area of Pennsylvania for 25 years. The culture and competitiveness of this area has funneled most athletes into one sport in which they concentrate solely on that sport. This has raised the level of competition throughout, and Miffco athletes must be mentally and physically prepared to rise to the occasion.
Some sports may have a rude awakening, but I believe that competing against such high level competition will allow Miffco's athletes to rise up and become on par with the best in the state.
I am looking forward to seeing the athletes compete next year and just wanted to say good luck and welcome to the Mid Penn Conference.
