George B. Hook Jr.

LEWISTOWN - George B. Hook Jr., 85, of 23 Henrietta St., Lewistown, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at Golden Living Center William Penn.

Born Jan. 24, 1927, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late George B. Hook Sr. and Florence M. (Wilson) Hook. He is survived by his wife, Polly A. (Hall) Hook, whom he married in May 1978. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida (Sellers) Hook, in 1978.

George is survived by: his children, George D. Hook, of Freeburgh, Wesley A. Hook, Lash L. Hook, Barbara E. Hook and Virginia L. Hook, all of Lewistown, and Celeste J. Hook and companion, Denny Kratzer, of McVeytown; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy L. Pennington, of Douglasville, Ga., and Ethel Haubrick, of McClure.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William F. Hook, his infant brother, James Hook, and his sister, Beatrice Carolus.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1950 to 1956, and he was a handyman who could do everything.

He was a member of the Lewistown Moose Lodge.

His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

His family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
