Robert ‘Bob’ W. Aitkins

LEWISTOWN - Robert "Bob" W. Aitkins, 85, of Lewistown, died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Golden Living Center William Penn.

Born Jan. 2, 1927, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Clark S. and Ida P. (Lindsey) Aitkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Robert W. Aitkins Jr.; a sister, June Railing; four brothers, Harry Worrall, Ray, Cleon and Norman Aitkins; a granddaughter, Michelle Logan; a grandson, Charles Armstrong; and twin great-great-grand- daughters.

Bob is survived by: his first wife, Geraldine (Shepherd) Setzler; his second wife, Patricia L. (Galbreath) Aitkens; companion, Deb Marker; children, Linda Wheeler and husband, Tom, of Lewistown, Phyllis Robinson and husband, Jim, of Duncannon, Roberta Armstrong and husband, Charles, of Yeagertown, Shirley Forshey and husband, Jerry, Connie Aitkins and companion, Ken Forshey, Deborah Platzer and husband, Allan, all of Lewistown, and Robert W. Marker and wife, Amy, of Mifflintown; siblings, Rose Baumgardner, of Yeagertown, Clark Aitkins and wife, Pat, of Lewistown, and Jennie M. Goss, of McClure; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was born a farmer but worked at the following places over the years: Niagara Falls, Viscose, and owned his own construction business, retiring in 2002.

Bob was a life member of the NRA, Brooklyn Hose Co., East Derry Fire Co., Yeagertown Fire Co., and was a past president of Decatur Board of Supervisors and Paternal Order of Eagles 4294. He also was a member of Rocky Hollow Camp.

Having a love for the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling in the mountains and traveling the western U.S.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Steven Swigart officiating.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 15, at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Vira Methodist Cemetery.
