SIGLERVILLE - Gardner James Glass, 96, of Arab, Ala., and formerly of Siglerville, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Shepherds Cove, Albertville, Ala.
Born May 9, 1916, in New Hope, Ala., he was a son of Oscar Eugene and Esther Lee (Clark) Glass. His wife, Jane E. (Shank) Glass, whom he married Aug. 13, 1967, preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2009.
He was also preceded in death by siblings, Earnest Glass, L.D. Glass, Nannie Wade, Edna Patty and Gertha Mae Glass.
Surviving are: one daughter, Margie Kelsoe Glass, of Arab; one grandson, Keith Kelsoe, of Arab; great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Daniel Kelsoe, of Jacksonville, Fla., siblings, J.W. Glass, of Athens, Tenn., Curtis Glass, of Walterboro, S.C., and Virginia Cook, of Guntersville, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Glass worked in road construction for more than 30 years with Wright's Construction Co., Columbus, Ga.
He was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, Siglerville, for 42 years.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at Saint John's Lutheran Church, Siglerville, with the Rev. Janice Moody officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Siglerville. There will be no public viewing.
Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.
