Ice cream recalled due to undeclared allergen in product

LEWISTOWN - Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets, following a recall by Unilever, announced it removed pints of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Nougat Crunch ice cream from its stores due to undeclared peanuts or tree nuts on the ingredient label.

The product has date codes of JUL1113BJ1, JUL1213BJ1, AUG0113BJ1, AUG0213BJ1, AUG2313BJ1, AUG2413BJ1, AUG2513BJ1, SEP2013BJ1, SEP2113BJ1 or OCT2313BJ1 printed on the bottom of the container.

No illnesses have been reported to date, but people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts or tree nuts may run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Customers who have purchased the product should discard it and bring their purchase receipt to Giant or Martin's for a full refund of the purchase price.
