Burnham man in fair condition following crash

Police: Kauffman left road, hit tree in Perry County

BLAIN - A 38-year-old Burnham man is listed in fair condition after an accident Saturday morning in Perry County, Pennsylvania State Police Newport report.

Police said Ryan M. Kauffman was traveling west on state Route 274 in Jackson Township in a 2007 Dodge Sprinter, when he was attempting to pass two slow moving pickup trucks and a Backhoe.

According to the report, Kauffman went off the roadway and traveled through a yard before striking a tree. Police said he was not wearing his seat belt and suffered major injuries. He was flown to Hershey Medical Center via Life Lion helicopter.

Kauffman was cited for the accident and not wearing a seat belt, police said.
