Blanche P. Roberts

LEWISTOWN - Blanche P. Roberts, 93, 1611 Big Ridge Road, Lewistown, died at 8:56 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at her home.

Born Dec. 8, 1918, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Bottomley) Pegel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Edward John Roberts; an infant daughter; one sister, Elva Hardwick; and a granddaughter, Monica Roberts.

She is survived by: her children, Edward John Roberts Jr. and wife, Muriel, of Falls Church, Va., Wayne Harry Roberts and wife, Carole, of Chatham, Va., Thomas James Roberts and wife, Judy, of Odessa, Fla., Christie R. Gisewhite and husband, Charles, of Lewistown, and Eric Wilson Roberts and wife, Marian, of Chatham, Va.; 14 grandchildren, Toby and wife Danielle, Rebecca, Courtney, Zachary and Noah Roberts, Matthew Roberts and wife, Christine, Judy Jennifer Roberts, Thomas Bartholomew Roberts and wife, Nicole, Charles Russell Roberts, Joann Benner and husband, Larry, Carolyn Pannebaker and husband, Larry, Alden Gisewhite and wife, Denelle, John Cline, and Ryan Haymore and wife, Denise; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Blanche was a graduate of Haddon Heights High School, N.J., and the Philadelphia School of Business.

She worked as a professional secretary in legal and banking fields. Upon retirement, she was owner/operator of SeaVaRidge Kennel, where she helped to raise champion Greater Swiss and Bernese Mountain dogs.

Blanche enjoyed spending time with her family going to her beach house in Long Beach Island, N.J., and she was especially proud of the fact that her five children graduated from college.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and was nominated by the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America for a lifetime achievement award.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Interment will take place at Holy Innocence Church Cemetery, Long Beach Island, N.J.
