MEXICO - Judith A. "Judy" Mellan, 56, of Mexico, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 23, 1956, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of Donald V. Sr. and Gloria D. (Guyer) Delancey, of Rockville. On May 1, 1987, she married her surviving husband, Thomas R. "Mel Thomas" Mellan, with whom she shared more than 25 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by: one son, Christopher Notestine and his wife, Sherry, of Mexico; a stepdaughter, Mary Melinda Mellan, of Fayetteville; siblings, Jean Weiand and her husband, Allen, of Mifflintown, Donald Delancey Jr. and his wife, Peg, of Locust Run, Timothy Delancey and his wife, Barb, of Lewistown, Mark Delancey and his wife, Maryann, Jill Baumgardner and her husband, Steve, all of Licking Creek, and Laura Swartz and her husband, Steve, of Pleasant View. Her first husband, Andrew Notestine, of Arch Rock, also survives, and she leaves behind two grandsons. T. J. Taylor and Derek Notestine, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She attended Juniata High School, Mifflintown, and later in life after passing her GED, earned an associate degree in humanities from the University of Ashworth, Georgia.
Mrs. Mellan was a valued and respected employee of the ComPASS Center, Lewistown, where she planned programs and was loved by the clients. She also worked for Skills Inc., Lewistown, the Mifflin-Juniata Area Agency on Aging at the Mifflintown Senior Center, and for 25 years, worked beside her husband in their disc jockey service.
Judy's artistic gifts were evident in her love of crafts, including pottery. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, bird watching and rides along the river and up the creek; however, her most enduring memory will be for the devotion she had for her family.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Maureen Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in the East Salem Cemetery, East Salem.
Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the funeral home.
