Hospital: Man in serious condition after accident

BEAVERTOWN - A 43-year-old Beavertown man is listed in serious condition following a motorcycle accident Monday afternoon in Snyder County, Pennsylvania State Police Selinsgrove report.

Police said Michael A. Zimmerman was traveling south on U.S. 522 in Franklin Township, Snyder County, on a 2002 Harley-Davidson, when an unsecured ladder fell off a pickup truck traveling ahead of him.

According to the report, several vehicles quickly stopped before striking the ladder, but Zimmerman was thrown from his motorcycle as he attempted to stop rapidly. He was flown to Geisinger Medical Center.

The crash is still under investigation.

Police were assisted by the Middleburg Fire Co. and Middleburg Ambulance.
