THOMPSONTOWN - Susan E. Rowles, 63, of Thompsontown, died on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born May 7, 1949, in Port Trevorton, Snyder County, she was a daughter of Helen B. (Beaver) Mitchell, of Thompsontown, and the late Rudolph T. Mitchell. On June 17, 1967, she married her surviving husband, Orvis E. Rowles Sr., with whom she shared nearly 45 years of marriage.
She is survived by: one son, Orvis E. Rowles Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Port Royal; two siblings, Teresa Brewer and her husband, Phillip, of Laceyville, and Frank Mitchell, of Thompsontown; and she leaves behind two grandchildren, Sarah Rowles and Ryan Leister.

One daughter, Rachelle Susan Rowles, preceded her in death, in 1974.
Susan was a 1967 graduate of East Juniata High School, Cocolamus, and a member of the Lost Creek Golf Club, Oakland Mills.
Mrs. Rowles's love of children was embodied through her employment by the Juniata County Head Start as a school bus driver.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and golfing. Being a "people person," Susan valued her friends and family; however, the light of her life was her precious granddaughter, Sarah.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Minister Arthur N. Lenhart officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
