Minerva R. Aughey

MIFFLIN - Minerva R. Aughey, 84, of Mifflin, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.

Born Feb. 16, 1928, in Arch Rock, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. and Katherine M. (Renno) Reynolds.

She is survived by: her husband, Paul S. "Bucky" Aughey, whom she married in June 1949; three children, Sharon Crosman and husband, Michael, of College Park, Md., Rod P. Aughey, of Mifflintown, and Lisa A. Neff, of Port Royal; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: two brothers, Stephen Reynolds and Eugene Reynolds; two sisters, Sara R. Margritz and Pauline R. Suloff; and her son-in-law, Kenneth E. Neff.

She graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1945 and then from Empire Beauty School.

Minerva worked at the American Viscose, owned her own beauty salon, Suburban Beauty Shop, was chief clerk at the Juniata County Courthouse, and retired from PennDOT.

She was a member of Saint Stephen's Lutheran Church, was a past matron of Mifflin Chapter No. 260 Order of the Eastern Star, and had served on Mifflin Borough Council.

She was an artist who worked with oil paints, enjoyed quilting, sewing, flower and vegetable gardening, and was known for her holiday pie baking. She especially enjoyed being a grandmother and spending time with her family.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Saint Stephen's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Chris Mathiason officiating. Interment will be in Saint Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.

There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday, at the church.
