Glenn E. Stitt

MIFFLIN - Glenn E. Stitt, 76, of Mifflin, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

Born June 3, 1935, in Spruce Hill Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late Dorris and Ruth (Evans) Stitt. On Sept. 22, 1956, he married his surviving wife, Faye (Kennedy) Stitt, with whom he spent nearly 56 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his daughter, Glenda S. Crimmel and her husband, Steve, of Harrisburg; one brother, Marlin D. Stitt, of Port Royal; two sisters, Christine Nickle, of Catlett, Va., and Betty Armstrong and her husband, Paul, of Port Royal; and he leaves behind two grandsons, Kevin Crimmel and Kyle Crimmel, of Harrisburg.

Three brothers, John Stitt, Donald Stitt and Carl Stitt, and one sister, Gladys Towsey, preceded him in death.

Mr. Stitt was a 1953 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal, and a life member of the Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Academia, where he served as an elder and sang in the choir. His other memberships include the Teamsters Local #765, Williamsport, the Spruce Hill Grange and the Beale Township Fire Co, Walnut.

For more than 34 years, he worked as a self-employed dairyman. He also worked for several local dairies, including the Port Royal Dairy, Valley Farms and Purity Milk Co., before retiring in 1996.

Glenn enjoyed collecting milk bottles and attending the Port Royal races, however, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, and he was especially proud of his two grandsons whom he loved so dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Academia, with the Rev. Joanne Torma officiating. Interment will follow in the Academia Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
