To the editor:
As Principal of East Derry and Strodes Mills Elementary Schools, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the East Derry Home & School Association and the Strodes Mills Elementary Parent & School Association for their continued hard work and dedication to the students, faculty, and staff at both of these schools.
On May 18, both East Derry and Strodes Mills Elementary Schools held their annual Field Day for our students. This is a student centered, physical activity that is parent organized, operated, and directed for the benefit of all students. They provided approximately 16 different activity zones with refreshment stations throughout the complex. Approximately 75 parents/relatives, along with the Trooper McGarvey from the Pennsylvania State Police & Emergency Management volunteered their time to organize and supervise various activities.
We, as teachers and administrators, are very fortunate to have this kind of parental support for our schools and children within our community.
E. Terry Styers, Principal
East Derry and Strodes Mills
