To the editor:
The Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and clients of the LUMINA Center would like to express sincere appreciation to the community members and businesses who donated their time, items and cash to help make our March 31 benefit auction a tremendous success. We attribute the success of this fundraiser to our community that has so generously supported us not only through this auction, but throughout the years, whether through a donation to the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata who in turn supports us as a United Way agency, or through direct donations to the center. We are truly blessed and are very grateful to the community-a community that cares about its youth and families.
The LUMINA Center offers free programming activities to all children and youth of Mifflin County as long as they are within the age limits specified, generally between 6-18 years, depending on the activity. All activities are well supervised by caring adults who have both criminal and child abuse clearances. Our facility is clean, drug/alcohol/tobacco free, and strives to maintain a fun, caring and disciplined atmosphere for our young clients, many of whom are very at-risk children and youth.
The community support of our work enables us to fulfill our mission statement, which is as follows:
"LUMINA is a Community Center which offers the light of faith, hope and love 'to,' 'for' and 'with' the children, youth and families of Mifflin County in the name of Christ."
Thank you once again for your support. Please keep the children, youth and families of Mifflin County, and the staff and volunteers of the LUMINA Center in your prayers.
Deborah A. Wilt
LUMINA Center Director
