Eleanor D. ‘Dottie’ Forry

McALISTERVILLE - Eleanor D. "Dottie" Forry, 71, of McAlisterville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Select Specialty Hospital, Danville.

On Aug. 27, 2009, she married Banks Forry, who survives. Her passing breaks a marital union of three years.

Eleanor was born on Aug. 19, 1940, in Hazleton, a daughter of the late Mary J. Riley.

Eleanor retired after 17 years from Brookline Manor and previously did home care for her brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Mildred Leister, and was employed with the former Lyons Fashion, McAlisterville. She was a member of the McAlisterville Ambulance Company, and the Port Royal emergency company. Eleanor attended St. Thomas Independent Brethren In Christ Church, Mount Pleasant Mills, where she was active in the Busy Bees activity group. Eleanor enjoyed cooking, baking, eating out and spending time with her grandsons.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Ann and Todd Varner, of McAlisterville; two grandsons, Benjamin and Joshua Varner; two additional grandchildren to be born soon; six stepchildren, Rose Mary Forry and her fiance, John Elsasser, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Roger Forry and his wife, Joy, of McAlisterville, Bonnie Hudson, of California, Patty Boettcher, of Nottingham, Sandra Ott and Linda Leister, both of Delaware; stepgrandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Betty Renno, Pauline Lauver and Ethel Fogleman and her husband, Robert.

She was preceded by: her first husband, Glenn R. Leister; three brothers-in- law, Edgar Leister, Lester Leister and his wife, Ruth, and Harry Leister and his wife, Mildred; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Shirk and her husband, Harry.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at St. Thomas Independent Brethren In Christ Church, 1070 St. Thomas Road, Mount Pleasant Mills, with Pastor Roger Womer, assisted by the Rev. James Neimond Jr., officiating.

Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday, at the church. Burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

Memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Dottie to the Busy Bees activity group, c/o St. Thomas Independent Brethren In Christ Church, 1070 St. Thomas Road, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853.

The George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, have been entrusted with the arrangements.
