LEWISTOWN - Barbara A. Bitner, 70, of 22 Manor Drive, Reedsville, died at 5:35 a.m. Sunday, May 13, at Golden Living Center William Penn, Lewistown.
Born April 12, 1942, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Myrtle (Bingaman) Thomas.
Her husband, Ralph E. Bitner, whom she married Oct. 6, 1962, survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Bruce Edward Bitner and wife, Michelle, of Port Royal; two brothers, Danny Thomas, of Shanesville, and Gary Thomas, of Lewistown; one half-sister, Cindy Conner, of Lewistown; one half brother, Raymond Bell, of Lewistown; two stepsisters, Sharon Copenhaver and Mildred Royer, both of Shindle; four grandsons, Jerad R. Bitner and wife, Jenney, Bryant A. Bitner, Cody S. Bitner, and Christopher E. Bitner; and one great-granddaughter, Viola Angela Bitner.
She was preceded in death by one son, Brian Eugene Bitner, on Nov. 5, 2006, and a brother, Terry Thomas.
Mrs. Bitner was a 1960 graduate of Lewistown High School. She briefly worked at American Viscose, in Lewistown, and was a cub scout leader in her early years.
She was a member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, in Lewistown, and sang in the church choir. She also was a member of Women of the Moose.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, 21 S. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Canon David A. Zwifka officiating. Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Bohn Funeral Home, in Reedsville. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mark's Episcopal Church or Golden Living Center William Penn.
