Helen A. Peachey

WALNUT - Helen A. Peachey, 74, of Walnut, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2012, at Lewistown Hospital, surrounded by her loving family .

Born Dec. 30, 1937, in Van Wert, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Fern (Brubaker) Wert. Her husband, M. Richard "Dick" Peachey, whom she married June 29, 1957, died Oct. 11, 2005.

She is survived by: four children, Dennis E. Peachey and wife, Cristine, of Mifflintown, Linda L. Hosler and husband, John, of Port Royal, Rev. Warren L. Peachey, of Millerstown, and Loren D. Peachey and wife, Noel, of Port Royal; three siblings, Sherle Wert and wife, Mary, of Milroy, Nancy Varner and husband, Philip, of Oakland Mills, and Judy Kanagy, of Thompsontown; nine grandchildren, Jason Hosler, Joseph Hosler, Nicole Whistler, Kristin Peachey, Nicholas Peachey, Alicia Peachey, Derek Peachey, Allison Peachey and Lindsey Peachey; and two great-grandchildren, Carter Hosler and Kenzie Hosler.

Helen graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School and worked several places, including as a secretary for Community Nursing and as a dietary aide for Locust Grove Retirement Village, as well as helping her husband on their farm.

She was a very active member of Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church and a long-time Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed gardening, reading, singing, traveling and especially spending time with her family.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown, with her son, the Rev. Warren Peachey, officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mifflintown.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday, at Cedar Grove Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Grove BIC Church Library, 287 Deerville Rd., Mifflintown, PA 17059 or New Harvest Community Church Building Fund, PO Box 614, Millerstown, PA 17062.
