Richard H. ‘Dick’ ‘Curly’ Quay

SPRING MILLS - Richard H. "Dick" "Curly" Quay, 82, of Spring Mills, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at his home.

Born Nov. 3, 1929, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Issac James Russell and Viola Worrell Quay.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, Issac, and two sisters, Geraldine and Laura.

Surviving are: one daughter, Jenny (Kevin) Rider, of Spring Mills; two sons, Richard H. (Donna) Quay II, of Ocean Spring, Miss., and Roger H. Quay, of Spring Mills; two sisters, Betty Emel, of Bellefonte, and Bernice Sheaffer, of Lewistown; six grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.

Dick proudly served his country in both World War II and the Korean conflict, where he received three Bronze Campaign Stars.

He was employed for 43 years at Cerro Metals, retiring in 1995. He was a Baptist by faith.

Dick was a member of the Milesburg American Legion, Bellefonte VFW, the Moose Lodge and the UAW Union.

He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman who enjoyed tying his own flies. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching college football and cooking for his family.

A graveside service with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Schencks Cemetery, in Howard, with Pastor Chris Korn officiating.
