LEWISTOWN - Two local women are combining their years of cosmetic experience to offer area residents a makeover that is a little bit ... well, magical.

Amber Kahley, of Lewistown, recently opened Amber Kahley's Shear Magic, a hair salon offering haircuts, colors, highlights, specialty styles and waxing for men, women and children. After working at other salons for seven years, Kahley is excited to branch out on her own.

"This gives me more freedom to be more personal with my customers," she explained.

Jody Esh, of Lewistown, has joined Kahley at the salon, bringing 13 years of experience with her.

"It was just something to do at first, but became a love," Esh said about her years as a stylist. "I like seeing that I've made people feel better as they walk out the door."

The atmosphere at Shear Magic reflects just that; attentive care for each client and a love for the business.

"Our goal is not to get a person in and boot them out the door," Esh explained, "We want to make them feel like they're wanted here."

In addition to a comfortable atmosphere and experienced stylists, the salon offers prices lower than corporate salons with better customer service, Kahley said. At Shear Magic, customers can choose their own product line and are not limited to the products in the salon.

"We can special order any product anyone may want," Kahley said.

The stylists also participate in further education, attending hair shows and classes throughout the year. Esh said this helps them stay up-to-date on current trends and offer their customers the most recent styles.

"My hope is that the experience will be relaxed and our customers will feel like a brand new person when they walk out the door," Esh said.

Kahley agreed and emphasized that, above all else, she wants to offer special care and attention to her clients.

Shear Magic is located at 20 Windmill Hill, Suite 6, Burnham. The stylists share the suite with Brenda Lockett, of Brenda Lockett's Fairytale Nails and electrolysis, and Bob Snook, massage therapist. In celebration of the new salon, the three businesses will host a combined open house on May 19 from noon to 2 p.m. Refreshments and special promotions will be offered.

Regular salon hours for Shear Magic will include: Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call Amber Kahley at 953-4080 or Jody Esh at 348-4844, or find updates on Facebook at Brenda Lockett's Fairytale Nails and Mini Spa.
