THOMPSONTOWN - Sarah J. Hower, 76, of Centre, Thompsontown, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born Jan. 20, 1936, in Manor Hill, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Randall and Emily (Ross) Davis.
She is survived by: her husband, Norman C. Hower, whom she married on June 29, 1957; three children, Randy B. Hower and wife, Cindy, of Thompsontown, Jane E. Stuck and husband, Chuck, of Lewistown, and Cathy Lightner and husband, Dave, of Thompsontown; 11 grandchildren, Maria M. Hower and companion, Roger Rumberger, Herb Lightner and wife, Rachel, Toby Burris and wife, Alice, Tom Lightner, Tim Burris and wife, Ashley, Dale Lightner and wife, Tasha, Travis Burris, Kristy Matter and husband, Chuck, Shep Stuck, Sharyah Stuck, and Rebecca Stuck; and 14 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her twin sister, Sandra Jeanne Landis, three brothers, Paul Davis as an infant, J. Franklin Davis and William A. Davis; and one grandson, Jason E. Leppert.
Sarah graduated from Juniata Joint High School and was a cook at The Curve in New Bloomfield. She was a member of Centre Lutheran Church, a 60 year member of Walker Grange #786, a life member of Juniata Saddle Club and served as judge of elections in Walker Township for 12 years.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and collecting soda tabs for labs and cancelled stamps, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Mr. Leon Davis officiating. Interment will be in Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
