REEDSVILLE - Darvin J. Yoder Sr., 87, of 7769 State Route 655, Reedsville, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at his home.
Born April 11, 1925, in Belleville, he was a son of the late Aaron S. and Sadie A. (Glick) Yoder. His wife, Ada C. (Glick) Yoder, whom he married May 12, 1951, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Darvin J. Yoder Jr. and wife, Joan, of Reedsville, Lucinda M. Kratzer and husband, Rodney, of McClure, Kenneth E. Yoder and wife, Kathy, of Carlisle, and Larry J. Yoder and wife, Gail, of Canonsburg; siblings, Lydia Byler and husband, Jeff, of Petersburg, Orpha Zook and husband, Ivan, of Belleville, and Barbara Bossinger and husband, Donald, of McVeytown; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vesta and Edna Yoder, and a brother, Samuel Yoder.
Darv was a farmer and a truck driver, and he drove school bus for J and D Inc. for a number of years as well.
He enjoyed walking, doing yard work, working in his flower gardens, playing cards with friends, spending time with his family and traveling to Fla. in the winter with his wife.
He was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church and an original member of Spruce Pine Camp, where he hunted for several years.
Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 4, at Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, at the church, with Pastors Alan Kauffman and Herb Zook officiating.
