Fern E. Russler

BELLEVILLE - Fern E. Russler, 92, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the Haven.

Born May 18, 1919, in Belleville, he was a son of the late Rush L. and Clara Mae (Headings) Russler.

He also was preceded in death by: six brothers, Ralph Russler, Charles Russler, Prestie Russler, Albert Russler, Paul Russler and Fay Russler; and four sisters, Ruth Carson, Margaret R. Miller, Mildred G. Metz and Dorothy Corbin.

Fern is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Mitchell, of Belleville.

Fern attended the Belleville schools. He served in the United States Army during World War II and also in the South Pacific. He was a carpenter for J.M. Young and Sons, retiring in 1964. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1333, State College, the VFW Post 5935, Belleville, American Legion Post 90, Lewistown, Belleville Fire Co. and St. John's Lutheran Church, Belleville. He enjoyed hunting and attending family reunions.

A graveside service will be held in his memory at 11:15 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville, with Pastor Paul Kampa officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville.

Arrangements are under the care of Henderson Funeral Home Inc., 3813 W. Main St., Belleville.
