Richard C. Kratzer

LEWISTOWN - Richard C. Kratzer, 81, of 828 Roosevelt Ave., Lewistown, died at 1:01 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at Golden Living Center William Penn.

Born Sept. 9, 1930, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Coy Kratzer and Helen E. (James) Kratzer Cavanaugh and his stepfather, William Cavanaugh.

He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy L. (Schmidt) Kratzer, whom he married on June 24, 1950; his sisters, Phyllis Dove and husband, Robert, of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Donna Carolus and husband, Harold, of McVeytown; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Marshall Kratzer, in 1979, and Stephen Kratzer, in 2009, and his brother, James Kratzer.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Richard was the owner/operator of Kratzer Auto Sales, in Lewistown, and was employed for 15 years at Standard Steel, in Burnham.

He was a member of the VFW Post 7011, American Legion Post 90 and the Burnham Eagles No. 4294.

His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., with the Rev. Kenneth Litwiller officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.

There will be no public viewing; however, his family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 342 S Logan Blvd., Burnham, PA 17009.
