James Edward Yocum II

CHAMBERSBURG - James Edward Yocum II, 65, of Chambersburg, died Friday, April 20, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center, of Hagerstown, Md.

Born Nov. 24, 1946, in Belleville, he was the son of M. Marie (Miller) Yocum and the late James E. Yocum Sr.

A graduate of Kishacoquillas High School, in Belleville, Jim went on to earn his bachelor's degree from the former Edinboro State College. He enjoyed a career for more than 32 years at Franklin Learning Center as a speech therapist, retiring in Dec. 2011. An avid hunter and model train collector, Jim also served as treasurer for the Franklin County Special Olympics.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna Dobbs Yocum; a daughter, Rebecca (Justin) Hoke; a son, Robert (Susan) Yocum; three grandchildren, Alexandra and Jordyn Hoke and Adrienne Yocum, all of Chambersburg; and one sister, Joan (Ed) Kittrell, of Naples, Fla.

In addition to his father, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Yocum.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Terry Hoke officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service Saturday.
