PORT ROYAL - A. Anne Zimmerman, 76, of Port Royal, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Hershey Medical Center.
Born June 14, 1935, in Shirleysburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Freda (Smith) McGarvey. Her husband, Kenneth E. "Zip" Zimmerman, died on April 1, 2008.
She is survived by: two children, Glenda and husband, Brian "Chop" Sheaffer, and Kenny Zimmerman, all of Port Royal; three siblings, Marian "Doates" Shatto, of Shermansdale, John "Jack" McGarvey, of Elliottsburg, and Richard "Dick" McGarvey, of Millerstown; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: one daughter, Sandy L. Berry; one great-grandson, Landon Michael Nipple; one sister, Jean Metz; and two brothers, Charles "Pat" McGarvey and William "Bill" McGarvey.
She graduated from Blaine Union High School in 1953 and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Mifflintown.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed yardsaling, cooking, reading, drawing, playing Scrabble and cards, and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. John Walters officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
There will be no public viewing.
