DOTHAN, Ala. - Mr. Jeffry Paul Haywood, of Dothan, Ala., died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at his residence after a long, hard battle with ALS. He was 57.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Highland Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Willis officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the ALS Association, P.O. Box 2888, Huntsville, AL 35804, or to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1619 S Park Ave., Dothan, AL 36301.
Mr. Haywood was born July 22, 1954, in Lewistown, the son of Norman and Nancy Harpster Haywood.
After residing in central Pennsylvania for the early part of his life, he and his family moved to Dothan in 1983.
Due to his illness, he retired from Conway Express.
He was an active member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, and an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting with his son. He also loved all sports, especially Atlanta Braves baseball and NASCAR. His most special times were with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Survivors include: his wife, Jeryl D. Haywood, of Dothan; daughter, Blakely Haywood Jordan and her husband, Scott, of Montgomery, Ala.; son, T.J. Haywood and his wife, Cortney, of Dothan; and grandchildren, Will Haywood, Emmie Haywood and Banks Jordan.
