Douglas W. Miller

BELLEVILLE - Douglas W. Miller, 55, of 4401 E. Back Mountain Rd., Belleville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a brave struggle with cancer at 1:21 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Born June 30, 1956, in Lewistown, he was a son of G. Edward Miller and Constance (Pagana) Miller, of Reedsville. He was married to wife, Carrie (Yoder) Miller, April 7, 2001. He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Penny Jo (Boop), who died Oct. 23, 1992.

He is survived by: children, Carla Miller and companion, Vinnie, of Wilkes-Bare, Jason Miller, of Lewistown; and brothers and sisters, Nancy Yoder and husband, Dwight, of Belleville, Jack Miller and wife, Nancy, of Lewistown, and Barb Lake and husband, Kirk, of Reedsville.

Doug is a 1974 graduate of Kish High School. Following graduation, he owned and operated his own coal delivery business. He then worked for American Hickory, followed by Mann Edge Tool, then for Penns View Farms as a laborer and most recently he owned an operated his own custom harvesting business, Miller's Manure and More.

In high school and his early twenties, Doug enjoyed going hunting and fishing. When he was raising his family, he enjoyed taking his children fishing at the pond, attending truck and tractor pulls and going to horse shows. Most recently, he enjoyed target shooting. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed making people laugh up until the end.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Belleville, where he served as a former council member. He is a lifetime member of the NRA and a former member of the Jaycees. He also helped coach his daughter's softball team.

A service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, April 21, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Belleville, with Pastor Paul Kampa officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

A viewing will be held Friday, April 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville.
