Ninety people run during the second annual 5K walk/run sponsored by the Juniata County Business and Professional Women’s organization on Saturday. It began with a pistol start at 10 a.m. in front of the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church in Mifflintown. Race co-directors Lynlee Payne and Drue Richmond were pleased with the turnout. From every registration fee, $3 was donated to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, an organization chosen by the state BPW organization as its charity of the year. The first person to cross the finish line was Darien Knudsen, 16, of Lewistown, in a time of 18:58.15. The first woman to finish the race was Megan Becker, 17, also of Lewistown, with a time of 23:02.12. She and Knudsen received trophies, while the top three finishers in each of the seven age group categories received medals.
