To the editor:
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a progressive motor neurone disease that robs people of the ability to move their muscles. ALS destroys the nerve cells controlling those muscles, ultimately causing complete paralysis while leaving mental function intact. Survival is typically three to five years after diagnosis, and no cure exists.
TAZ Fitness LLC and their supportive clientele made a move to help by attending the United We Dance to Cure ALS Zumbathon charity event on March 25. The proceeds benefited MDA's Augie's Quest, a nonprofit research initiative dedicated to finding treatments and cures for ALS.
TAZ Fitness LLC would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the amazing staff and clients that made donations and/or participated in the dance-fitness party for the cause.
We would also like to thank all of the very supportive local businesses that donated products and gift certificates for this cause: JP Edwards, Downtown OIP, Charlene Lenig Cake Designs, Vega's Lawn & Landscaping Inc., The Logan House, Stroup's Garage, Pam Schultz Cakes, Andrea's Pizza, Lewistown Subway, Warehouse 13 and Tony's Cottage Inn.
Thank you all for your kind and generous donations and participation, which totaled over $1,000. Giving back in this way is never possible without the caring people of this community.
