HONEY GROVE - Harold G. Gray, 84, of Honey Grove, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Jan. 21, 1928, in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Glenn M. and Cecil (Simonton) Gray. On Dec. 13, 1952, he married his surviving wife, Joanne K. (Kirk) Gray, with whom he shared more than 59 years of marriage.
Surviving are: two daughters, Dianne J. Deihl and her husband, Joe, of Mifflintown, and Nannette L. Gray and her husband, David Boone, of Enola; and one granddaughter, Ashley D. Stremme and her husband, David, of Mooresville, N.C.
One granddaughter, Amanda Jo Deihl, preceded him in death in 1988.
Mr. Gray was a 1945 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, where through the FFA, he won the Keystone Farmers Degree Award and after graduation, he received the National American Farmers Degree Award.
His memberships included the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford, Union Lodge No. 324 F&AM, Mifflintown, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Forest No. 88, AASR Harrisburg Consistory, Tuscarora Grange No. 774, and East Waterford Fire Co.
Earlier in life, he was a dairy farmer with his father on the family farm before retiring as a carpenter from H. B. Alexander and Sons, Harrisburg, after which he served on the tip staff for Juniata County Courts for 25 years.
Harold loved nature and the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, gardening and with his gift of artistry, he loved woodworking in his shop.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford, with the Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery, East Waterford.
Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at Faith United Methodist Church.
