MATTAWANA - David R. Spigelmyer, 72, of Hertzler Street, Mattawana, died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Jan. 16, 1940, in Granville, he was a son of the late Theodore W. and Anna M. (Smith) Spigelmyer.
Dave was previously employed by John Stine Trucking, of McVeytown. He was then a self-employed truck driver, and worked for Yoder Tourways, of Mattawana. Dave also did all of the maintenance for his mother's apartment house, in Granville.
Dave spent most of his life as an independent mechanic and electrician, doing plumbing, heating and air conditioning work. He probably helped 90 percent of the businesses in Bratton Township and did work for nearly half the businesses in Oliver Township. His efforts were tireless and he would never quit until the job was completed. When anyone had a problem that couldn't be fixed or repaired, we would all call Dave Spigelmyer. He was truly a genius in his technical abilities.
Private services were held with the Rev. James Yoder officiating. Interment was in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
Harshbarger Funeral Home, McVeytown, was in charge of arrangements.
