McVEYTOWN - Deloris Ann Gearhart, age 78, of 3250 Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012.
Mrs. Gearhart was born on Nov. 26, 1933, in Brady Township, Huntingdon County, a daughter of the late Elmer K. and Alma R. (Smith) Miller. She also was preceded in death by her stepfather, Barton C. Taylor.
She married Dale Gearhart on Dec. 18, 1954, in the Atkinson Mills Methodist Church. He survives at their home.

Also surviving are: four sons, Duane D. Gearhart and wife, Mercedes, of McVeytown, Donald C. Gearhart and wife, Eileen, of McVeytown, Dean E. Gearhart and wife, Molly, of Solomons, Md., and David L. Gearhart and wife, Gail, of McVeytown; one sister, Darlene Rynkewitz and husband, Stephen Jr.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Kenneth "Buddy" Miller, and a sister, Beverly "Betty" Wertz.
Mrs. Gearhart was a devoted homemaker and, for several years, worked for Bell Telephone, in Huntingdon.
She graduated from Captain Jack High School, Mount Union, in 1951.
She was an active member of Atkinson Mills Methodist Church. She played piano and organ, beginning piano at age 13 and continuing for over 60 years. She played the organ full time after 1987. She directed the hand bell choir from 1987 to 2010, and was the vocal choir director for many years before that. She was also a member of the church board for many years and secretary of the board since 2002. She taught Sunday school for over 40 years and was a member of the "Willing Workers," which was active in community and charity affairs.
She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Atkinson Mills Methodist Church, with Pastor Brian Myfelt officiating. Interment will be in the Atkinson Mills Methodist Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, in Mount Union, and from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday, at the church.
